Association promote traffic safety, reduce the environmental impact of road transport and monitor legislation and development on cars and motoring in Finland
Association of Automobile Industry in Finland is an expert organization, which follows and participates in the development of legislation concerning the automotive industry. In addition, the Association participates in the development of research within the industry.
The activities of the Association focus on
- the taxation of road transport,
- technical regulations concerning vehicles,
- traffic safety and
- environmental issues related to road transport.
Taxation
- Car taxation should move from purchase-based to usage-based – the car tax should be abolished.
- Emission steering must be technology-neutral to create space for new innovations.
Environment
- Tax policy should promote low-emission solutions in a technology-neutral manner.
- Purchase incentives for low-emission vehicles, both for consumers and businesses, accelerate the shift in energy use and support the achievement of emission reduction targets.
Traffic Safety
- An ageing vehicle fleet is a risk to road safety.
- Fleet renewal enhances road safety, as vehicle safety technologies have advanced significantly in the 2020s.
