The Association is an expert organization, whose members are companies that import new automobiles into Finland. The activities of the Association are therefore related to the import of passenger cars, vans, trucks and buses, as well as sales and servicing. The objective of the Association is to ensure proper operating conditions for its members, distribute information relevant to the automotive industry, and promote traffic safety and environmental issues related to road transport.
The Association follows and participates in the drafting of legislation concerning the automotive industry. In addition, the Association aims to provide the media and legislators with up-to-date information on the automotive industry. Focus areas in the activities of the Association include technical regulations concerning vehicles, taxation of road transport, traffic safety and environmental issues. With both social and environmental objectives, the Association promotes the adoption of new technologies to improve the safety of motor vehicles and to reduce their environmental impacts.
The Association collaborates with the media both directly and through the Finnish Information Centre of Automobile Sector. The objectives of public relations include lobbying, as well as communicating reliable, up-to-date information to consumers.
The Association offers the following services to its members: lobbying the EU, the Finnish government, authorities and other organizations; distribution of information; as well as sharing environmental and recycling expertise through Finnish Car Recycling Ltd.
The Association is a member of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) and participates in the work of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
